Who Is Maya Boyd? Broadway Performer Cast as Storm in Marvel’s New ‘X-Men’ Film

Maya Boyd, a Broadway actor, singer and dancer, has been cast as Ororo Munroe, better known as Storm, in Marvel Studios' forthcoming “X-Men” film.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige introduced Boyd and the film's other principal cast members during Disney's 2026 D23 entertainment showcase, according to reports from Entertainment Weekly and People. From Ann Arbor to the stage

Boyd is from Ann Arbor, Michigan. In a 2024 interview with Broadway.com, she described growing up in an academically focused family and training extensively as a dancer before deciding to pursue musical theatre.

Broadway career

Boyd made her Broadway debut in the 2023 revival of “Merrily We Roll Along,” performing in the ensemble and covering the role of Gussie while completing her final year at Michigan.

On May 14, 2024, she took over the title role in the Broadway musical “& Juliet,” succeeding original Broadway lead Lorna Courtney. The production reimagines what might happen if Shakespeare's Juliet chooses to continue living after Romeo's death.

In 2026, Boyd joined the Broadway revival of August Wilson's “Joe Turner's Come and Gone” as Molly Cunningham, adding a major dramatic role to her stage résumé.
